Steubenville High School Receives $25,000 Flight Education Grant

The Steubenville High School Advanced Career in Aerospace Engineering and Aviation learned it is the recipient of a $25,000 American Airlines Flight Education Grant.

The grant, one of 17 awarded nationwide by the airline, is among the largest donation American bestows on aviation-related organizations.

“We are very excited to be one of the recipients of this generous donation and with it, we’ll be able to add flight simulators for students to earn the hours they’ll need for a private pilot’s license,” said Natalie Campana, Aerospace Engineering & Aviation Instructor.

Steubenville High School was among the 90 junior and senior high schools, museums and other aviation-focused organizations invited by American Airlines to submit ideas on growing and diversifying the nation’s pool of pilots.

The grant funds will provide Steubenville High School students the opportunity to learn flight operations and earn flight hours in a Red Bird Flight Simulator. Steubenville High School Aerospace Engineering and Aviation program has articulation agreements with Ohio State University and Eastern Gateway Community College for students to earn post-secondary credits and a seamless transition from high school to college in either Engineering or Aviation.
